Long live love and romance

Here’s good advice from YOU columnist Dr Louise.

SIX WAYS TO KEEP ROMANCE ALIVE
IF YOU’RE INVOLVED . . .

1 Have your own Valentine’s Day. Why limit making a fuss of your loved one to one day a year? Whip out those small treats, thank-you cards and loving gestures so your partner never feels taken for granted.

2 Don’t let winter get you down. Don’t be lazy and dull just because the weather is. Organise outings - and there’s nothing quite as romantic as sitting in front of a roaring fire.

3 Keep saying the words. Don’t only think you love your partner, say it too. People need to be told often they’re loved.

IF YOU’RE SINGLE . . .

1 Think of yourself as a catch. It’s amazing how few people realise how special they are. Think of yourself that way and don’t envy others who seem to have love.

2 Be bold. You don’t need an excuse for a date. Believe in yourself and don’t fumble around for an excuse to ask someone out.

3 Act on your feelings. It’s no use dreaming - ask someone out. The worst that can happen is the person will say no - and there’s no reason to take it personally.

THREE TIPS TO KEEP YOUR LOVE STRONG
1 Cherish your partner. It’s not a woman thing - people of all ages need recognition and to be reassured they’re loved and appreciated.

2 Make time for fun. Life can be tough when money gets tighter so making time for fun among all the serious stuff is even more important.

3 Talk about relationship issues. Don’t use stress as an excuse to avoid talking. All it does is make talking ineffective when crunch times come.
