THE THINGS KIDS SAY
A little girl is watching her mother do the dishes at the kitchen sink when she notices her mom has several strands of white hair sticking out from her otherwise brunette locks.
“Why are some of your hairs white, Mom?” she asks inquisitively.
“Well,” the mother replies, “every time you do something wrong and make me cry or unhappy one of my hairs turns white.”
The little girl thinks about this for a while. “So how come all of grandma’s hairs are white?”
WHY GRANNIES ARE COOL
Several eight-year-olds were asked, “What is a grandparent?” Here’s what they said:
- “A lady and a man who have no little children of their own. They like other people’s.”
- “When they take us for walks they slow down past things like pretty leaves and caterpillars.”
- “They don’t say, ‘Hurry up.’ ”
- “They wear glasses and funny underwear.”
- “They can take their teeth and gums out.”
- “Grandparents don’t have to be smart.”
- “When they read to us they don’t skip. They don’t mind if we ask for the same story over and over again.”
