Check the status of you relationship

YOU advice columnist Dr Louise suggests you ask yourself these questions about a partner.

ARE YOU HAVING FUN?
If you’re smiling and laughing more than you have in ages you’ve probably found the perfect partner.

CAN YOU BE YOURSELF?
If you feel you have to present yourself in a better light or pretend in any way the person isn’t for you.

DO YOU LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING?
Can’t you wait to tell your partner about your day and to find out about his or hers? That’s a good sign.

DO YOU ENJOY THE SAME STUFF?
If you enjoy each other’s favourite activities and don’t feel a need for change you could be meant for each other.

CAN YOU BE QUIET TOGETHER?
Being able to enjoy a quiet night at home together is a vital measure of a good relationship.

CAN YOU DEAL WITH ILLNESS?
If you still love him when flu makes him look awful you’re definitely compatible.

WHEN THINGS GO WRONG . . .
Can he or she calm you and make you feel better? If your partner can help you see light at the end of the tunnel you have a love to hang on to.

BUILDING BLOCKS OF A GOOD RELATIONSHIP
Mutuality. A relationship is about giving as well as receiving - sometimes you simply have to give in and do what the other person enjoys.

Nurturing. Small gestures - for example an encouraging SMS when you need it most - show you’re in tune with each other’s needs and can make life more enjoyable.

Intimacy. Being sensitive to your partner’s sexual needs doesn’t just mean making love but making each other feel sexy, wanted and loved.
